You can hire an experienced Illinois divorce attorney over the phone or on-line by paying the $500 Retainer Fee using a credit or debit card.  You’re welcome to come to the offices of Illinois Divorce and Cowell Taradash, but you don’t have to, and of course we accept other forms of payment.  Once you hire us, one of our experienced staff members will take your information and conduct an in-depth interview.  Your divorce papers will be prepared and sent to you for your approval and signature.  We will file your papers and contact your spouse (you don’t have to make the call – we send a thoughtful, professional letter) to confirm the terms of the agreement.  Once the agreement is signed, our staff will schedule your court date.  You will meet with your attorney before court and be prepared for, and then be guided through, your testimony (about 10 minutes).  That’s all there is to it.  Most cases cost less than $500 and take less than 30 days from start to finish.

“Simple” means the absence of complexity.  Complex issues add to the cost of a case.  The big problems usually are 1) violence, 2) custody or visitation issues, and 3) complex financial issues  (stock options, income real estate, privately held business interests, an ongoing bankruptcy case, etc.). “Uncontested Divorce” means just that – there won’t be any fighting.  Our attorneys and support staff will work closely with you to prepare your settlement agreement.  If your spouse refuses to sign the agreement – no matter how reasonable it is – then you do NOT have an uncontested divorce.  If your spouse makes a counter-demand – no matter how unreasonable it is – and you reject it,  again you do NOT have an uncontested divorce.
